I love this musical version of this well-known poem, which teaches we all need to find the best time daily to meet with our Creator. For me it’s first thing in the morning; for others it’s the last hours of the day (though the evening and the morning were the first day, it all starts in the evening). Whatever time is your best time of the day, give that time to Him, and avoid many of the dangers that await in the currents of your day.
lyrics
I met God in the morning
When the day was at its best,
And His Presence came like sunrise,
Like a glory in my breast.
Chorus:
All day long his Presence lingered,
All day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea..
Other ships were blown and battered,
And other ships were sore distressed,
But the winds that seemed to drive them,
Brought to us a peace and rest.
Chorus:
All day long his Presence lingered,
All day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea..
Then I thought of other mornings,
With a keen remorse of mind,
When I, too, had loosed the moorings,
With his presence left behind.
Now I think I know the secret,
Learned from many a troubled way:
You must seek Him in the morning
If you want Him through the day!
Chorus:
All day long his Presence will linger,
All day long He'll stay with you,
And you'll sail in perfect calmness
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea..
Chorus:
All day long his Presence lingered,
All day long He stayed with me,
And we sailed in perfect calmness
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea
O'er a very troubled sea.
